In 1940, the director and actor of silent films, Charlie Chaplin, released his first sound film, “The Great Dictator”. This film was a bold satire on Nazism and Hitler himself. The film was warmly received by the general audience, but was controversial among critics, as many thought it was too political. Chaplin faced many problems and obstacles while working on the film, but the Great Comedian could not remain silent. Chaplin said, “During the making of the film, I began receiving alarming letters from United Artists (note – the film studio, one of the founders of which was Chaplin himself)… but I was determined to finish this film simply because Hitler had to be laughed at.” The game ‘Zombie Slayers Unit’ is, if you will, our ‘Great Dictator’, however confident that may sound. It is an attempt to show all the absurdity and senselessness of this war. All the cruelty and cynicism of the enemy and the falsehood of his political slogans. A smile of desperation. Laughter through tears. Satire through pain. Because that’s who we are – we laugh in the face of the enemy. Because that’s the path.
